Josh do you leave the last ground wire capped alone?
I just replaced a couple of old smoke detectors at my house. These were original to my 28 yo house. None of the old detectors were interconnected and I didn’t see a red wire to connect them to either. Therefore, I just connected them as they had been previously connected.
